Nicknamed the \u201cVenice of the Alps\u201d<\/strong>, Annecy is an Alpine town well worth a visit during your stay at our campsite in Savoie<\/a>: allow about 1 h 40 by road (around a hundred kilometres) from our campsite in the Tarentaise, a lovely day trip. Its exceptional location, on the shores of the lake and surrounded by mountains, gives it undeniable charm<\/strong>. Annecy is divided into two distinct parts<\/strong>: the old town, rich in history and architecture, and the modern area, with shops and a shopping centre.<\/p>\n

Of course, you cannot visit Annecy in one day <\/strong>without taking time to admire its magnificent lake. There are two options: a walk around the lake or water and outdoor activities.<\/p>\n

Several walking paths <\/strong>surround the lake. If you only have one day, forget walking all the way around, which takes too long (between 3 and 6 hours depending on pace and breaks).
\nInstead, you can hop on a bike or even rent a pedalo or a boat<\/strong>. And why not try paragliding over breathtaking landscapes?<\/p>\n

Wander the lanes of the old town<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the heart of Annecy’s old town, the narrow pedestrian streets, lined with buildings of authentic charm<\/strong>, are perfect for a delightful stroll. The little bridges<\/strong> spanning the canals and the charming passages between colourful fa\u00e7ades are reminiscent of a miniature Venice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Facing the town, on the shores of Lake Annecy, lies a vast park <\/strong>called Le P\u00e2quier. This green space is home to the Jardins de l\u2019Europe<\/strong>, perfect for a picnic by the water.<\/p>\n

Nearby, the famous Pont des Amours <\/strong>spans the Thiou river, which flows through the old town. According to a local legend, a kiss exchanged in the middle of this bridge seals love forever. From the bridge, the view over Lake Annecy is remarkable, with La Tournette<\/strong>, the highest of the surrounding mountains, as a backdrop.<\/p>\n

On the other side, the Canal du Vass\u00e9 <\/strong>offers a charming, soothing setting for a peaceful walk.<\/p>\n

Browse the market stalls<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During a one-day visit to Annecy<\/strong>, plan a stop at the market to discover and stock up on good Savoie produce.<\/p>\n

Several markets<\/strong> are held in Annecy throughout the week, mainly focused on food. The old town market<\/strong>, on rue Sainte-Claire, takes place on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It is an ideal opportunity to enjoy the lively atmosphere <\/strong>while browsing stalls full of cured meats, Alpine cheeses such as Reblochon and Tomme, and fresh produce.<\/p>\n

A lovely way to take a little piece of the region home! In winter, the town transforms for its Christmas market<\/a>, one of the biggest in the region.<\/p>\n
