The Bastille: the viewpoint over the city<\/h2>\n

The most iconic<\/strong> and popular site<\/strong> is without doubt the Fort de la Bastille<\/strong>. Perched at an altitude of 476 metres<\/strong>, it overlooks Grenoble<\/strong> and reveals one of the finest panoramas over the city and the Alps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The experience starts in the city centre with the famous Grenoble-Bastille cable car<\/strong>. These famous \u201cbubbles\u201d<\/strong>, France’s first urban cable car<\/strong>, leave from the Is\u00e8re quayside<\/strong>, a stone’s throw from the Maison du Tourisme Hubert Dubedout<\/strong>, the main tourist information office<\/strong> of the Grenoble tourist office<\/strong>, where you can pick up a city map<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Once at the top, there is no shortage of attractions<\/strong>: the Fort de la Bastille<\/strong>, an example of 19th-century military architecture<\/strong>, the Mountain Troops Museum<\/strong> and, above all, a 360\u00b0 view<\/strong> over the city<\/strong> and the Belledonne, Vercors and Chartreuse massifs<\/strong>.
